Meet the Village Behind CoCo Love Doulas Coco Love Doulas

Founded in 2024, CoCo Love Collective started as a community-rooted doula practice and has since grown into a comprehensive perinatal support ecosystem. It was established as a Black-led, community-rooted organization to address persistent racial disparities impacting Black birthing families in Contra Costa County.

"CoCo" represents community, culture, and connection while honoring the diverse shades and lived experiences of Black and Brown families. It is also an affectionate nod to Contra Costa County ("CoCo County").

"Love" reflects the organization's core belief that compassion, dignity, relationship-centered care, and culturally affirming support are vital to maternal wellness and healthy birth outcomes. [Read More]

Our Mission

To improve maternal and infant health outcomes by providing culturally responsive, relationship-centered support to Black birthing families throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and key family transitions.

Vision Statement

Creating stronger pathways to maternal and family wellness through culturally responsive care and community-based support reflects the vision of CoCo Love Doulas. We strive to expand opportunities for families to access education, postpartum resources, fatherhood engagement, and community wellness initiatives throughout California. Our long-term direction is to strengthen connections between direct doula services and community initiatives that support families beyond childbirth.

As family and community needs evolve, our pillars of care will continue to grow through practical education, resource connections, and collaborative partnerships. This approach encourages ongoing support at different stages of pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. Through thoughtful service development, families can continue accessing services that promote informed decision-making, stronger family connections, and long-term well-being.
